READER REVIEW - STILL RUNNING
“I love Cade. (Are all South African men that nice and sexy?)… I can understand why poor Josie was so tempted and wanted him so badly… We forget how secrets can mess up lives… I’m definitely going to buy your next book… The children were cute too…"

"Romance is in the air from the moment Josie met Cade. The sparks of anger and love fly between these two. The plot is endearing and the characters likable. Still Running by Judah Raine is sure to please the most astute fan of romance". Debra Gaynor (ReviewYourBook.com) read the whole review: http://www.reviewyourbook.com/review.cfm?reviewid=1571

REVIEW WALL
I truly enjoyed reading Josie and Cade’s story. Josie’s angst and Cade’s stubbornness seemed to flow from the book. Even now, I can picture these two having a face-off–and I’m not sure who’d win! “Still Running” is Judah Raine’s tale of a tortured woman and the man who just won’t give up on her. And I think we’d all like to have a man like that.
STILL RUNNING - JJ Maschev
STILL RUNNING
You will find that the writing has great depth and the characters come to life. Josie struggles to keep Cade away even while she is around him. She finds ways to re-capture parts of her life that she lost, even while refusing to see the things she could have if she’d just let Cade in. Cade struggles to get past the walls that Josie keeps throwing up. And it is in Cade’s determination that you can see his measure, as a man and the man who’s determined to stop Josie from running.

STILL RUNNING
The main focus of this story is Josie, a woman deeply affected by both her past and her relationship with her family. I was quite intrigued by Josie’s “secret” and found it to be an interesting twist once revealed. But because of this secret and incidences in the past, Josie has her walls firmly in place as she seeks to both protect herself and protect others from what she fears will happen if they get close. As the title implies, Josie seems to run from her problems rather than face them head-on and is a self-described “runner.” But with Cade and the children she cares for, she may have finally found a reason to stop running. I really enjoyed watching Josie’s relationship develop with both Cade and the children. The children, as well as other characters, seem determined to play matchmaker bring the couple together. Josie goes through quite a transformation as the story progresses and Cade works through her defenses. It was enjoyable to watch. Still Running is a wonderful story that I found to be a very entertaining read. Josie’s journey as she learns to stop running is one that many should enjoy.

STILL RUNNING
Still Running, the debut novel by Judah Raine, is an introspective romantic story with a deep look at how someone’s past can interfere with her present and future. I was drawn to Josie from the beginning because of her stubborn independence and calm reaction to what would have made many romance heroines start on a tirade. Josie is clearly strong and hard to throw at the start, setting the scene well and leaving us to wonder if that will change as the story continues. Her first meeting with Cade makes us believe it might indeed change and it’s interesting to watch her fight for her learned control against wanting to give in to him, and to her own needs. Still Running is an enjoyable read and Cade is a nicely imperfect but strong and lovable hero with a supporting cast of realistic and fun characters.

THE LOOK
The pace of the novel is nicely judged, as the mystery of why Morgan has come to this quiet backwater is gradually revealed. It allows the reader to savour the country community that Judah Raine vividly draws and enjoy the developing relationship between the sparring Morgan and Blake. The emotions in the novel are subtle and powerful, shown rather than told so the reader can feel with the heroine. Morgan is a perky, sympathetic character and Blake a good foil to her. Morgan’s a lovely tease and Blake certainly needs taking down a bit so I enjoyed their back-and-forths. Beneath their banter is a far more serious issue, the reason why Morgan has come to Thornleigh, and that is handled with great delicacy.
The cat is adorable - if you read the book you’ll see why and how - and the whole easy-going way of country life in South Africa is very appealing. Clearly Judah Raine knows the country and knows what she is talking about: the rhythms of life and people and their speech are perfectly caught. Fishing can be romantic, too - if you read The Look, you’ll understand!
The Look by Judah Raine is a sweet romance with lots of romantic tension and a glorious Happily Ever After.
